Lessons of a Face Painter
I face paint in my spare time. It’s fun! I love to see the kids smile after I’m done. They are just so excited!
I’m an artist at heart so I’ve never taken classes for face painting, I just go with it.
Each time I go to do a party or event . . . I am super nervous. My prayer is that I do a good job! That the kids are happy and the parents are pleased.
The best thing about face painting, no matter what I charge, people tip. I love getting tips because it tells me, I’m doing a good job.
Now I know I’m not the best face painter in the world. There are many people in my area more talented, more artistic, more practice than I am.
The good thing is, they are not there!
During many events, birthday parties or reunions, I am the only face painter available. So if you want your face painted, you get me. This is also a way for me to expand my business. I have business cards available to give out.
So even if I’m the only face painter, if I do a bad job that equals no more potential clients.
So here are my life lessons from face painting:
I’m not the best – but I do my best.
Even though I’m the only choice at the time, I want to act as if I’m competing against the best.
To get started – I simply got started.
The most important point is the last one. I love to paint, enjoy face painting and appreciate the high return for my time. To do this, I just got started.
This is true for anything in life. Identify what you are passionate about and start doing it. You may not be the best. The market may be competative, but just do it.
Whether is navigating in the ocean of websites or becoming part of the etsy mamoth, just get started doing it.
